Since its 2024 relaunch, the Eastern & Oriental Express runs round-trip journeys through Malaysia aboard its opulent gold and green carriages. The train departs and returns to the same city, so you settle in once and let Malaysia’s landscapes roll past your window. The earlier Bangkok to Singapore route with the River Kwai excursion is no longer operated.

After being welcomed aboard the gold and green-liveried carriages, settle into your compartment. Dinner is served as the train leaves the city behind and travels into the Malaysian countryside. After a delicious meal, retire to your compartment, now transformed into a comfortable bedroom by your personal steward. (Overnight on the Eastern & Oriental Express)
A Journey Through Malaysia
Wake to changing scenery of rainforest, plantations, and hills as the train winds through the Malaysian interior. Each departure features its own curated stops and off-train excursions, so there is time to step off and explore before returning to the comfort of your carriage. Between stops, settle into the observation car or the open-air deck and watch the countryside pass.
