Alaska by train and by sea
Alaska is the trip my clients talk about for years afterward. It rewards the two things I plan best: scenic train travel and cruising. You can ride the Alaska Railroad through the interior one day and watch glaciers slide past your balcony the next. My job is to fit those pieces together so the days flow, the transfers are handled, and you get the views without the logistics.
By train
The Alaska Railroad runs some of the most scenic track in North America. The Denali Star connects Anchorage, Talkeetna, Denali, and Fairbanks. The Coastal Classic runs down to Seward past the Kenai Peninsula. I usually recommend the dome cars, where the glass wraps overhead and a meal comes with the view.
By sea
An Alaska cruise covers the Inside Passage and the glaciers with a comfort that is hard to beat, and it pairs beautifully with a land tour. A cruisetour lets you sail one direction and travel inland by rail and coach to Denali, so you see the coast and the interior in one trip. For Alaska I work closely with Holland America, Princess, and Viking Ocean, and match the ship and itinerary to how you like to travel.
By land
Not everyone wants a cruise, and Alaska is worth a trip on its own. I also plan land-only journeys built around the Alaska Railroad, Denali, and the wilderness lodges, so you can go deep into the interior at your own pace. It is a good fit if you have cruised before or simply prefer to keep your feet on solid ground.
What a trip looks like
Most of my Alaska trips combine guided touring with time on your own. You will have a plan for the big moments, the glacier day, the Denali excursion, the rail segments, and open afternoons to explore at your pace. You will also have a bound itinerary in hand and me on call if anything shifts while you are traveling.
Who it suits
Retired couples marking an anniversary, first-time Alaska travelers who want it done right, and families traveling together across generations.
Why book Alaska with me
Alaska sells out early and the good cabins and rail classes go first. As a San Antonio travel advisor, I plan it far enough ahead to get you the right ship, the right side of the train, and the excursions worth doing, and I steer you away from the ones that are not. Most of my clients I meet in person, right here in the Universal City and San Antonio area.
